KALAMAZOO GAZETTE: Upton’s FDA user-fee bill approved by House

A bill sponsored by Congressman Fred Upton supporting user fees for drug and medical device manufacturers was approved the House today.
The bill would extend current current fees to drug and medical device companies, as well as expand fees for generic drugs. The money will allow the FDA to more quickly review drugs and bring them to the patients. It will also increase the FDA’s oversight of possible safety issues.
Upton said on the House floor that the bill will “support millions of jobs … in an important sector of our economy.”
